The Soqotra Heritage Project has been formulating as a concept since the early 2000s when several researchers, stakeholders and Soqotri enthusiasts began working on the heritage of Soqotra and gathering information from a variety of sources.
Historical research into the cultural heritage of Soqotra has been well documented previously (see reference) but contemporary research into some aspects has been small scale and disparate.
